Minga – A city which immediately brings up a clichéd image: Nice buildings, clean streets and Facades and expensive rents. In order to maintain this clean image of Munich, displacement is taking place on a large scale. Displacement of places which seem to not fit into the picture. The consequences: Vacancy, decay, demolition. Gentrification is still ongoing very fast and swallows the few remaining remnants of the old, colourful and affordable Munich. The photoseries “Minga” is intended to show the flip side of Munch’s clichéd image.
The photographies show places in transition – places which are not gentrified jet – places which are in the midst of the process of repression or have already been taken down.
This work was shortlisted by the “Vonovia Award für Fotografie 2021″ in the category “beste Nachwuchsarbeit”. The photographs were also exhibited in the Sprengel Museum Hannover.
