"Take Back Control" - The problems that women are facing as result of Brexit are very similar to the problems in any other Western, patriarchal society, but they have been exacerbated by Brexit. It is said that men and women are equal and it is easy to believe. However the reality looks different. Brexit is noticeable in the everyday lives of many people, especially for those who are not white, British and male.
This work is therefore intended to open up a visual space that uses codes and perspectives that were learned in our society to ultimately point out on the reality of women‘s daily lives in Post-Brexit-Britain.
I realised this project as a participant of the BFF Sponsorship Award 2023/2024. I started photographing the subject during my exchange semester in England and developed it into a long-term project. "Take back control" was exhibited at the Horizonte Zingst Festival for Photography 2024. The cover image of the magazine for the BFF Sponsorship Award exhibition is from this series.
